Tiger at Waikato Hospital

The 'Tiger at Waikato Hospital' painting was donated to the Waikato Hospital and proudly hangs in the main foyer, bringing a touch of wildlife art to the healing environment.

The Story Behind the Painting

The inspiration for this painting is "Jaka," a magnificent Sumatran Tiger who was a resident at the Hamilton Zoo in the early 2000's. Mike remarks that drawing and painting tigers is one of my favourite passions.

A Moment of Distraction

One visitor, while visiting a sick family member, shared that seeing the tiger eased their pain and provided a beautiful distraction. This is the power of art, and I'm humbled to provide such moments.

Jaka: The Sumatran Tiger

Jaka is a male Sumatran tiger and a true ambassador for his species. His presence at Hamilton Zoo inspires many, and he is the reason behind this painting being created.
