Mike has been doing Art competitions since leaving high school, 1981.  He remarked that competitions are not for everyone but it helped him. " I have done many many Art competitions, over my long career, both here and overseas. The Art competitions are very competative, just to make the finals is a huge achievements."

Mike has entered this UK, competition 3 times in the past, could this be 4th time lucky, we will know on 30th June, 2025, to see if mike has made the finals, keep an eye on this prestigious award.( Active Entry) 

Artist Note, 2nd July 2025,  Unfortunately i did not make the finals of this years, WAY competition. I want to thank the DSWF orgaisation, staff and judges for the opportunity to take part in this amazing art competition, to my fellow artist who did not make the finals "kia kaha", keep going, and finally my Best wishes to the artist for the finals. 

Always controversial and full of surprises, I have entered this competition many times in the past.

Congratulations to the 53 artist who made the finals of the National Contemporary Art Awards and the finals. There were over 400 enteries which entered this years competition, making it the largest number to date.
